In view of the Kovid-19 epidemic, the court directed that pilgrims visiting Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri dams should be required to have coronavirus positive reports and a certificate of second dose vaccination. Kovid said managers should take steps to adhere to the guidelines and make medical facilities available.

Although the High Court allowed pilgrims to visit Chardham, it was necessary to impose a daily limit on the number of devotees visiting the temples. The high court said it had allowed only 800 devotees at the Kedarnath temple, 1,200 at the Badrinath temple, 600 at Gangotri and 400 at Yamunotri Dham.

The Uttarakhand government has filed a petition before the bench seeking permission for the pilgrims to come as the Kovid conditions have improved. The High Court, which heard the case, issued the order saying that many people depend on tourists for their livelihood. Meanwhile, according to the latest official data, there are currently 296 active cases in Uttarakhand. 7,389 people have died since the outbreak began.
