Spin trap again; England fight to avoid innings defeat

 Ahmedabad: India won the fourth Test against England.  India beat England by an innings and 25 runs.  With two days to go, India won the fourth Test.  India won the four - Test series 3-1.  England won the first Test only.

 India won by an innings and 25 runs

 India were all out for 365 in the first innings.  England's first innings ended at 205.  Rishabh Pant and Washington Sunder gave India the lead in the first innings.

 Rishabh Pant 101 and Washington Sunder 96  Sunder and Pant lifted India by the hand when the wickets were falling and the Indian situation was deteriorating.  Rishabh was out yesterday after scoring a ball century.  On the third day, Sunder's performance made India safer.  Sunder missed the century by a wide margin.  Sunder's 174-ball innings included 10 fours and a six.  Rohit Sharma's 49 and Akshar Patel's 43 helped India increase their lead.

 On the third day, India lost the first wicket of Akshar Patel.  Patel, who scored 43, was run out.  Akshar Patel's return came after a 106 - run partnership with Washington Sunder for the eighth wicket.  Ishant Sharma, who came after Patel, was out on the first ball.  India's first innings came to an end when Mohammad Siraj returned without scoring a run.  Sunder, who was unbeaten on 96, lost his maiden century.

England could not hold on in the second innings.  Daniel Lawrence was the only batsman to score a half-century for England.  Lawrence's 50 off 95 balls with six fours was dismissed by Ashwin.  Akshar Patel and Ravichandran Ashwin took five wickets apiece.  England captain Joe Root scored 30 runs.  Six of the England line-up were out for two.

 India qualified for the final of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship with a Test series win over England.  India entered the final as the top team in the ICC points table.  India will face New Zealand in the final.
